Position Size Calculator
Calculate the exact number of units to trade based on your risk parameters.
Risk Amount
$100.00
Position Size
2.00 units
How to use this calculator
Enter your total account balance, the percentage you want to risk on a single trade, and the distance to your stop-loss in dollar terms.
The calculator gives you the exact number of units (shares, contracts, or coins) to trade so that if your stop-loss is hit, you only lose the percentage you defined.
Example
With a $10,000 account, 1% risk ($100), and a $50 stop-loss distance, you should trade 2 units. If the stop-loss is hit, you lose exactly $100 (1% of your account).
Why position sizing matters
Position sizing is the single most important risk management tool. Without it, a single bad trade can destroy weeks of profits. Professional traders never enter a trade without calculating their position size first.
